Huai Jinpeng meets with UNESCO Director-General

Minister of Education Huai Jinpeng accompanied Prof. Peng Liyuan, wife of Chinese President Xi Jinping, who serves as UNESCO Special Envoy for the Promotion of Girls’ and Women’s Education, during a visit to UNESCO headquarters in Paris, France, on May 6th. They also toured the exhibition “Ten Years of Cooperation between China and UNESCO,” which is on display at UNESCO headquarters. Subsequently, Huai met with UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay.

Huai said that Chinese President Xi Jinping’s historic visit to UNESCO headquarters in 2014 marked the beginning of a new chapter in cooperation between China and UNESCO. With President Xi’s guidance and support, cooperation between the two sides has yielded fruitful results over the past decade, playing a positive role in promoting world peace and development.

Azoulay highly praised Sino–UNESCO cooperation over the last ten years and expressed special appreciation for Prof. Peng’s contribution to the advancement of girls’ and women’s education. She also expressed her willingness to further enhance cooperation between China and UNESCO.

The two sides also exchanged views on implementing the results of President Xi’s meeting with Director-General Azoulay in 2023, supporting educational development in Africa and promoting digital transformation in education.
