Minister of Education Huai Jinpeng wrapped up a two-day visit to Malaysia on April 26, a month before the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations. The trip aimed to bolster educational cooperation and put into action the consensus previously reached by the leaders of the two countries.

Huai held meetings with high-level Malaysian officials, including Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek, and Minister of Higher Education Zambry Abdul Kadir.

The two sides engaged in comprehensive discussions on strengthening partnerships in vocational education, collaborative scientific research, digital education, and youth exchange. Both China and Malaysia reaffirmed their dedication to fostering high-level educational cooperation to support the joint development of the Belt and Road Initiative and support the long-term partnership between the two nations.

Huai also toured the University of Malaya and Xiamen University Malaysia Campus, where he witnessed the signing of agreements on establishing a joint China–Malaysia Science and Technology Innovation Research Institute, enhancing quality assurance in higher education, and supporting Chinese language education.

During the visit, the minister also participated in the ceremony launching the 2024 China–Malaysia Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition (i.e., the China International College Students’ "Internet+" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition—Malaysia Region) and the Malaysia National Finals of the “Chunhui Cup” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition for Overseas Chinese Scholars.
