The Organizing Committee for the 2027 Winter World University Games held its second plenary meeting in Changchun, Jilin Province, on Sept. 14. Minister of Education Huai Jinpeng and Director of the General Administration of Sport of China Gao Zhidan—co-chairs of the Organizing Committee—attended and addressed the meeting. Hu Yuting, governor of Jilin Province and executive chair of the Organizing Committee, presided over the meeting.
The meeting heard reports on preparations. Since the first plenary meeting, member organizations have worked closely to stage a “simple, safe and spectacular” Games. An efficient organizational system is already in place, and preparations for major events, delegation invitations, venues, media services, security, and the urban environment are on track.
With only four months until the opening, the meeting called for shifting from construction to final delivery. Member organizations were urged to work backward from deadlines and accelerate venue construction and inspection, while coordinating sports-technical testing and the deployment of event operations teams. The meeting said that test events should be organized to high standards and the opening and closing ceremonies and torch relay should be finalized. The meeting also encouraged preparations related to the 2027 FISU World Conference, delegation invitations, formation of the Chinese delegation, service arrangements, and risk controls. The Organizing Committee, the Executive Committee, the governments of Jilin Province and Changchun City, and all member organizations will coordinate closely and combine their efforts to deliver a successful Games.
Vice chairs and members of the Organizing Committee as well as officials from relevant departments of the Ministry of Education, the General Administration of Sport of China, Jilin Provincial Government, and the municipal governments of Changchun and Jilin attended the meeting.
