The 2026 China–ASEAN Education Cooperation Week opened in Guiyang, Guizhou Province, on July 29. Vice Minister of Education Ren Youqun attended the opening ceremony and delivered remarks.

Under the theme “Smart Education for a Closer and More Connected Community,” this year’s program includes 35 events covering higher education, vocational education, digital education, cooperation among universities, research institutions and industry, and youth exchanges.

Several new initiatives will also be launched during the week, including a China–ASEAN program aimed at strengthening capacity and sharing expertise in smart education.

The event brings together education officials and representatives from all ten ASEAN member states, including Brunei, Laos, Myanmar and Thailand, as well as university leaders and education experts. Representatives of the ASEAN–China Centre, the ASEAN Secretariat and the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization are also attending.
