Minister of Education Huai Jinpeng met with Penny Simmonds, New Zealand’s Minister for Tertiary Education and Minister of Science, Innovation and Technology, and her delegation in Beijing on July 27.
Huai spoke positively of educational cooperation between China and New Zealand and outlined China’s approach to developing a modern vocational education system. He encouraged institutions in the two countries to build on their respective strengths and share experience in fields such as health, agriculture, marine studies and artificial intelligence.
He also called for closer cooperation in skills training and joint research that responds to industry needs, supported by regular exchanges at different levels.
Simmonds commended China’s progress in education and its approach to vocational education. She thanked China for its support for joint education programs and student exchanges between the two countries, and said New Zealand was ready to continue sharing experience and expanding practical cooperation in vocational education.
