An international dialogue on Chinese poetry was recently held in Tianjin. Vice Minister of Education Ren Youqun attended the event and delivered a speech.

The dialogue brought together well-known scholars, young sinologists, and young students from the United States, Germany, Canada, and other countries. Scholars discussed the dissemination and teaching of Chinese classical poetry, as well as language teaching and cultural exchange. Teenagers from different countries recited Chinese poems and shared their interpretations.

Participants agreed that promoting the dissemination of Chinese classical poetry around the world is an important way to foster cross-cultural communication and mutual learning. They expressed hope that more scholars and young students will join in the study and spread of Chinese classical poetry and that a regular platform can be established to facilitate such communication.

The event was organized by the MOE’s International People-to-People Exchange Center and Nankai University, under the guidance of the MOE’s Department of Language Application and Administration.
