Minister of Education Huai Jinpeng met with Romain Soubeyran, president of the Groupe des Écoles Centrale (GEC), in Beijing on June 23. The two sides exchanged views on Sino-French cooperation in higher education.

Huai outlined China’s reform measures and successful practices in cultivating outstanding engineers and spoke highly of the achievements made through cooperation between GEC and Chinese higher education institutions (HEIs) in talent training, research collaboration, and international education programs. He expressed hope that HEIs in both China and France would respond to emerging trends such as artificial intelligence and green, low-carbon development by expanding cooperation and exploring new models for engineering talent development.

Soubeyran introduced the latest progress in GEC’s partnership with Chinese universities and commended China’s achievements in talent training and technological innovation. He said that GEC would further strengthen inter-university cooperation and encourage more students from its member institutions to study and undertake internships in China.
