Huai Jinpeng addresses academic dialogue between Europe and China

The 2026 China–Europe Technical University Presidents Dialogue Forum was held on June 15 at Polytechnic University of Turin in Italy. Chinese Minister of Education Huai Jinpeng delivered a video address.

Huai noted that Chinese President Xi Jinping attaches great importance to engineering education and that the Chinese government places high priority on the coordinated development of engineering education and technological innovation. He said China supports the establishment of talent training mechanisms that integrate industry and academia, aligning engineering education with industrial needs and advancing evaluation reforms guided by value creation and practical impacts.

Huai stated that China will uphold the principles of openness, cooperation, and shared benefits as well as strive to advance the reform and development of global engineering education. He expressed hope that Chinese and European universities will jointly enhance innovation and improve quality in engineering education worldwide and strengthen cooperation in the development of digitally enabled engineering education. He further called for closer international networks and an innovation ecosystem for engineering education based on inclusiveness, collaboration, and mutual growth.

Under the theme “Engineering Education Facing Global Challenges”, the dialogue forum brought together nearly 30 leading universities in China and Europe.
