Minister of Education Huai Jinpeng met with Michael Hoch, Rector of the University of Bonn, in Beijing on April 20. The two sides exchanged views on promoting exchange and cooperation between universities in the two countries.
Huai outlined the Fifteenth Five-Year Plan in the education sector recently released and discussed the implementation of the “Double World-Class” policy. He said that China will consistently advance educational cooperation with other countries. He expressed hope that universities in China and German will work together to adjust talent cultivation and academic research to adapt to the ongoing technological revolution and industrial transformation. He also voiced hope that universities from both countries will work together to facilitate two-way exchanges of scholars and students in interdisciplinary and cross-cultural fields.
Hoch said that the University of Bonn, as a University of Excellence in Germany, has established solid partnerships with a number of universities in China. He expressed his willingness to explore cooperation with more Chinese universities around the University of Bonn’s clusters of excellence and encourage German students to study in China.
