Minister of Education Huai Jinpeng met with Russia’s Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Falkov in Beijing on April 15. The two sides exchanged views on further deepening China–Russia educational cooperation and jointly delivering high-quality results during the China–Russia Years of Education.
Huai noted that Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin jointly designated 2026 and 2027 as the China–Russia Years of Education, providing guidance for expanding practical cooperation in education, science and technology, and culture. He said that China attaches high priority to the initiative. It stands ready to work closely with Russia to implement the consensus reached by the two heads of state and ensure the success of the first national-level themed years dedicated to education. He expressed the hope that, under this framework, both countries would enhance practical cooperation in all fields and achieve substantive results.
Falkov said that the Years of Education will lay a solid foundation for the development of bilateral relations. He also said that Russia attaches great importance to the initiative and is willing to work with China to further strengthen cooperation in talent training, joint research, and people-to-people exchanges, thereby elevating China–Russia educational cooperation to a higher level.
