Minister of Education Huai Jinpeng visited a range of schools in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on April 13 to assess the implementation of basic education policies.

During the visit, Huai toured a range of schools in Pingxiang, including primary schools, kindergartens, rural teaching sites and a secondary school serving ethnic minority students. He observed classroom use of the Smart Education of China platform and reviewed teaching, school management and teacher development, including the application of artificial intelligence in education.

The minister said efforts should focus on improving learning conditions in border areas, strengthening teacher support and expanding access to digital education. He also called for continued investment in both school infrastructure and the learning environment, alongside greater emphasis on developing students’ digital and AI-related skills.

Huai stressed the importance of school health initiatives and stronger oversight of school meal provision to ensure food safety and nutrition.

At a language school in Pingxiang, Huai met international students, including those from Vietnam, and discussed their studies and career plans. He encouraged closer educational exchange with Southeast Asia and the development of programs combining language learning with vocational skills to support regional cooperation.

In Nanning, Huai visited a special education school and a school serving students with behavioral challenges. He called for continued efforts to ensure equal access to education for students with disabilities and to strengthen support mechanisms and school management.

Local officials from the Guangxi regional government accompanied the visit.
