Vice Minister of Education Xu Qingsen attended the Spring Festival Reception of China–SCO Higher Education Cooperation Center in Beijing on March 2.

Highlighting educational cooperation as a key aspect of SCO’s development, Xu said that the launch of the center on September 2, 2025 is a concrete step toward implementing the guidance arising from the SCO Summit 2025 and advancing regional cooperation in education. He expressed hope that the center will promote cooperation among SCO members in policy alignment, talent cultivation, scientific research, and digital education.

Sohail Khan, SCO Deputy Secretary General, spoke highly of China’s efforts in facilitating educational cooperation among SCO members. He said that the SCO secretariat will offer vigorous support to the center, hoping that it will become a major platform for advancing regional cooperation in education.

Participants at the reception included representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the People’s Government of Shaanxi Province, as well as the embassies of some SCO member countries (i.e. Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Pakistan) in China, along with representatives from some universities.
