Minister of Education Huai Jinpeng met with Singapore’s Minister of Education Desmond Lee in Beijing on January 7. The two sides exchanged views on deepening bilateral educational cooperation.
Huai noted that the two countries have established comprehensive mechanisms for educational cooperation, which have achieved tangible results in promoting sustained exchange and collaboration in education, technology, and talent development. He said China is ready to strengthen cooperation with Singapore in basic disciplines and interdisciplinary fields as well as encourage joint research by leading universities in areas such as life sciences, neuroscience, and artificial intelligence. This cooperation will support China’s efforts to promote international technology transfer and application, innovate talent training models, and adapt to technological transformation and industrial upgrading. Huai also expressed hope that increased youth exchanges would deepen mutual understanding and trust, injecting new momentum into China–Singapore relations.
Lee spoke highly of the achievements in educational cooperation between the two countries. He said Singapore will continue to expand exchanges among educational institutions of all types, at all levels. As part of this effort to explore new frontiers in bilateral educational cooperation, he said Singapore will enhance partnerships involving two-way student exchange and lifelong learning.
Vice Minister of Education Ren Youqun also attended the meeting.
