Minister of Education Huai Jinpeng recently visited the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE), which is affiliated with the Ministry of Education. During his visit, Huai called for enhanced services for both Chinese students studying abroad and returnees, in order to advance international educational cooperation and support the development of a robust educational system.
Huai noted that overseas students are an important part of China’s talent pool and that services related to studying abroad are essential to national development strategies. In recent years, CSCSE has made solid progress in establishing a comprehensive management and service system for overseas education and for strengthening the global presence of Chinese education.
Huai stressed the importance of planning overseas study services within the broader context of national development, which entails a deeper understanding of the mission of study abroad work in the new era as well as an accurate grasp of emerging trends. He urged continuous efforts to improve the quality and efficiency of services and accelerate digital transformation, thereby enhancing the “Study in China” brand and further opening up the education sector. In addition, he emphasized the need to align services with national strategies and socioeconomic development, expand the scope of services, and establish international cooperation networks. He also underscored the importance of deepening educational exchanges with Hong Kong and Macao and attracting and cultivating more global talent. Finally, he called for an active role in global education governance in order to build an educational system with international influence.
