The Ministry of Education (MOE) held a consultation with the government of Fujian Province in Beijing on September 9. Minister of Education Huai Jinpeng and Governor of Fujian Zhao Long attended the meeting and delivered remarks.
Huai lauded the significant progress made by Fujian in improving its educational system. He expressed hope that Fujian would work closely with the MOE to implement the Three-Year Action Plan for Building China into a Leading Country in Education.
He suggested that Fujian enhance values education by tapping into local cultural resources and promoting field trips. He urged the province to align talent cultivation with the needs of economic and social development. He also called on the province to advance academic-industrial collaboration and regional technology transfer, build a team of technical managers, and deepen reform in vocational education to drive technological breakthroughs.
Additionally, he said the province should optimize the allocation of basic educational resources while taking demographic changes into account. He suggested that the province continue to boost the digital transformation of education, improve public education, facilitate educational cooperation across the Taiwan Strait, and make a greater contribution to the implementation of the “One Belt, One Road” initiative.
Governor Zhao thanked the MOE for its long-term support for Fujian’s educational development. He said Fujian has always prioritized education and has pushed forward the integrated development of education, science and technology, and talent cultivation. He expressed hope that the MOE would provide more guidance on implementing the “Double First-Class” initiative and integrating industry and education.
Vice Minister of Education Wang Guangyan and Vice Governor of Fujian Li Xinghu also attended the meeting.
