The Ministry of Education (MOE) held a consultation with the Sichuan Provincial Government in Beijing on Feb. 28. Minister of Education Huai Jinpeng and Sichuan Governor Shi Xiaoling attended the consultation and delivered speeches.
Huai lauded Sichuan’s educational achievements in recent years. He urged Sichuan to implement the 2024–2035 Master Plan on Building China into a Leading Country in Education by following the guidance laid out at the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee and the latest National Education Conference.
He suggested that Sichuan maximize its unique strengths in scientific research and talent cultivation while exploring innovative ways to improve its educational system so it can better contribute to China’s modernization drive. In particular, the province should boost the commercialization of research findings, enhance technical talent training, and strengthen collaboration between the education sector and major industries to drive technological breakthroughs.
Additionally, he said the province should continue to foster moral education and optimize the allocation of basic educational resources in both urban and rural areas while taking demographic change into account.
Sichuan Governor Shi Xiaoling said that the province maintained steady economic growth and made strides in pursuing high-quality development last year—a significant achievement only made possible by strong support from the educational system. She pledged to further promote the integration of education, science and technology, and talent cultivation. She also expressed hope that the MOE would continue to give Sichuan some guidance on the establishment of high-level research institutes, technological transfer centers, “AI+ Education” demonstration bases, and vocational colleges, as well as the comprehensive reform of higher education.
Vice Minister of Education Wang Guangyan and Vice Governor of Sichuan Zuo Yongxiang attended the meeting.
