Vice Minister of Education Wu Yan met with Prof. Tan Eng Chye, President of the National University of Singapore (NUS), on Feb. 24 in Beijing.

Wu Yan commended NUS’ progress in its collaborative efforts with Chinese higher education institutions (HEIs). Mentioning China’s 2024–2035 Master Plan on Building a Leading Country in Education, Wu encouraged HEIs in Singapore and China to cooperate on training innovative talent, joint scientific research, technology transfer and application, digital education and more. He also called for the two countries to increase student and scholarly exchanges. Noting that this year marks the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Singapore, Wu urged HEIs in both countries to jointly promote educational cooperation.

Tan Eng Chye expressed appreciation for the MOE’s support for NUS’ cooperative programs in China. He also expressed the university’s willingness to enhance cooperation with NUS’ Chinese counterparts in areas such as innovation in joint research and high-level talent cultivation.
