A meeting of education diplomats serving in Chinese embassies and consulates abroad was held in Beijing on Jan. 9–10 to discuss how to propel China’s international educational exchange and cooperation to a new level in 2025. Education Minister Huai Jinpeng discussed various issues with meeting participants. Vice Ministers of Education Wang Jiayi and Wang Guangyan also attended. Vice Minister of Education Wu Yan served as moderator.

The meeting recognized the significant progress made by education diplomats in facilitating head-of-state diplomacy and promoting educational cooperation last year.

The meeting stressed the need to focus on national strategy while increasing people-to-people exchange and cooperation in education and technology. It urged Chinese embassies and consulates abroad to facilitate the development of various platforms for high-level policy dialogue.

The meeting also called on education diplomats to implement the work plans set forth at the 2025 National Educational Work Conference. It encouraged them to proactively identify and respond to change, plan and carry out innovative projects, enhance their policy research skills, improve communication and coordination, and increase outreach.

Officials from various MOE departments, minister-counselors and counselors in charge of education-related work, and the Permanent Representative to UNESCO also attended the meeting.
