Vice Minister of Education Wu Yan met with Liu Chak Wan, Chancellor of Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST), and Joseph Hun-Wei Lee, MUST Vice Chancellor and President, on Jan. 8.
Wu congratulated MUST on its successful organization of activities for President Xi Jinping’s recent visit. He also commended the university’s efforts to actively serve the national strategy on scientific and technological advancement and promote synergetic development with mainland higher education institutions (HEIs), as well as its achievements in improving educational quality, talent training, technological innovation, and the application and commercialization of research results. He expressed hope that MUST will leverage its unique strengths to expand cooperation with mainland HEIs, contribute to Macau’s moderate economic diversification, and support the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area.
The MUST principal officers expressed appreciation for the Ministry of Education’s steady support of the university. They pledged to align MUST’s academic disciplines and talent cultivation with the national development needs, thereby advancing the country’s education and technology sectors.
