The Leading Group of the Ministry of Education (MOE) for Rural Revitalization Work recently held a meeting on improving the results of poverty relief work through education as well as combining poverty alleviation efforts with rural revitalization. Vice Minister of Education and Deputy Head of the Leading Group Wang Guangyan attended the meeting and delivered an address.
The meeting noted that President Xi Jinping’s important instructions and guidance from the Central Rural Work Conference have provided a clear direction for further advancing rural revitalization. The education sector must align its actions with the central government’s strategic decisions and fulfill its mission of promoting rural revitalization through education.
The meeting also emphasized efforts to be made: 1) Policy evaluation and optimization to ensure the feasibility and effectiveness of rural revitalization policies; 2) Building a robust rural education system to prevent poverty relapse and strengthening integrated educational development in both urban and rural areas; 3) Enhancing educational assistance to improve targeted assistance and support initiatives; 4) Promoting the cultivation of agricultural talent to enable more innovation in agricultural technology; 5) Positioning the work of rural revitalization as a vital platform for moral education, scientific research, and practical training of young professionals and officials; and 6) Refining work styles and methods to better communicate the Party’s policies through effective outreach.
Chiefs and heads of the MOE’s relevant departments and affiliated institutions, as well as from provincial- and municipal-level educational departments and from relevant higher education institutions under the MOE’s direct supervision, attended the meeting, which was held via video.
