A ceremony was held at Nanjing University on Dec. 26 to present the 19th Fok Ying Tung Education Foundation (FYTEF) Awards to selected university teachers in recognition of their outstanding achievements in scientific research and teaching. Vice Minister of Education Wu Yan, Foundation Chairman Fok Zhenhuan, Foundation Vice Chairman Fok Zhenting, and top administrators of Nanjing University attended the event.
Wu first recapped President Xi’s speech at a conference on Dec. 20 celebrating the 25th anniversary of Macao’s return to the motherland. During the speech, President Xi proposed guidelines for enhancing educational cooperation between the mainland and the Macao and Hong Kong Special Administrative Regions.
Wu acknowledged the significant contributions made by the FYTEF to the country’s higher education over the past 38 years since its inception. He expressed hope that the Foundation would carry on Fok Ying tung’s patriotic work and make even greater contributions to China’s educational modernization initiative. He also encouraged award recipients to dedicate themselves to talent cultivation and scientific research while aspiring to become highly acclaimed educators solving tough scientific problems.
Through rigorous selection, a total of 165 teachers from 124 universities received FYTEF awards, including 10 first-place awards and 155 second-place awards.
