Vice Minister of Education Wu Yan led a delegation to the United Kingdom from Dec. 10 to 12.

During his visit, Wu held talks with Jacqui Smith, British Minister of State for Skills, Apprenticeships and Higher Education. The two officials discussed how to jointly implement the consensus between the leaders of China and the UK, promote Sino-British cooperation and people-to-people exchange in higher education, vocational education and digital education, and prepare for the forthcoming 2025 China-UK Ministerial-level Consultation. The ministers also attended the Global MOOC and Online Education Conference 2024 as well as the China-UK Universities Roundtable and the Launch of the UK Young Envoys Scholarship Programme. The two sides exchanged views on educational collaboration in the era of AI and pledged to work together to facilitate youth and student exchanges while enhancing mutual understanding between the two countries.

Wu also visited the University of Edinburgh, the University of Stirling, Queen Mary University of London, and Cambridge University. At these institutions, Wu encouraged experts and scholars to support joint research and talent training between Chinese and British higher education institutions and make collaborative efforts to solve global challenges.

Chinese Ambassador to the UK Zheng Zeguang also participated in these activities.
