The Ministry of Education has launched the second National College Student Career Planning Competition, designed to equip students with essential career skills and enhance their employability. Jointly organized with the Hunan Provincial Government, the competition runs from October 2024 to April 2025 under the theme “Igniting Futures: From Dreams to Careers.”

Aiming to integrate learning, teaching, and employment, the competition features two tracks —growth and employment— tailored to students’ journeys through college and beyond. The growth track focuses on freshmen and sophomores, encouraging them to set career goals, develop a career mindset, and engage in skill-building activities. This track assesses their progress in this process and alignment with professional expectations.

The employment track is aimed at seniors and recent graduates actively seeking employment, emphasizing practical job-seeking skills and readiness for specific roles. Participants will engage with potential employers, who will offer internships and job opportunities that align student skills with market needs.

The competition has three stages: university, provincial, and national finals. Universities will oversee the initial stage, followed by provincial competitions organized by local authorities. The national finals, hosted in Hunan by the Department of Education of Hunan Province, Central South University, Hunan University, and Hunan Normal University, will award gold, silver, and bronze medals, along with special awards for organizational excellence, mentorship, and outstanding individual performances.

Registration, which began Oct. 22, is open on the official competition platform (zgs.chsi.com.cn). Each region will set its registration deadlines according to the provincial schedule. In parallel, various career-oriented activities—including job fairs, workshops, and industry engagement events—will be held across participating universities.

A special entrepreneurship initiative will be launched during the national finals in Hunan, encouraging students to explore innovative career paths as they prepare for the workforce.
