Wang Jiayi visits Macau Special Administrative Region

Vice Minister of Education Wang Jiayi led a delegation to the Macau Special Administration Region from Oct. 16 to 18.

Wang met with Ao Ieong U, Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of Macau, and Kong Chi Meng, Director of the Education and Youth Development Bureau. He also attended the opening of a professional capacity development program for principals and teachers, a seminar on curriculum development and textbook compilation between the Chinese mainland and Macau, and the closing ceremony of the 10th Outstanding Teacher Training Program. Additionally, Wang participated in the opening of the 2024 Mainland and Macau Higher Education Exhibition and attended an exhibition showcasing textbooks used in mainland and Macau schools.

During his visit, Wang emphasized the significance of 2024 as the 25th anniversary of Macau's return to China. He praised the Macau SAR Government for its dedication to promoting patriotism and advancing education, which have led to significant achievements in the region's education. Wang noted that the recent National Education Conference has outlined plans for accelerating the development of a strong educational system in China. He reaffirmed the MOE's ongoing support for Macau's educational progress and encouraged the SAR to leverage its unique position as a place for Eastern and Western cultures to cultivate more talented individuals.

While in Macau, Wang also visited the University of Macau, the Vocational Education Activity Center, and the Seac Pai Van Public School. As part of his visit, he donated 40,000 copies of the New Student Dictionary to students and teachers in Macau.
