The Communication University of China (CUC) held a conference celebrating its 70th anniversary on Sept. 26. Minister of Education Huai Jinpeng attended the event and gave an address. He also read President Xi Jinping’s letter to CUC faculty, students, and alumni congratulating them on the occasion.
In his talk, Huai highlighted President Xi Jinping’s warm concern for the university as expressed in his letter to CUC. Huai also emphasized the great importance the CPC Central Committee places on education as it provides guidance on the development of CUC in the new era.
Huai stressed that CUC must align its work with President Xi’s message while combining it with guidance from the National Education Conference. He also called on the university to enhance moral education, improve independent development of high-quality talent in journalism and communication, and accelerate the establishment of a strong knowledge base in these fields. In addition, he urged the university to further contribute to China’s development as a leading nation in education and to the broader goals of China’s modernization and national rejuvenation.
Nearly 700 individuals attended the event, including former officials, retired professors, alumni, faculty, staff, and students of CUC; representatives of various sectors of society; and more than 130 international guests from 32 countries and regions.
