Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, Peng Qinghua, met with the 2024 Hong Kong and Macao education delegation at the Great Hall of the People on Sept. 27, four days ahead of the 75th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China. The delegation’s visit, organized by the MOE, marks the 19th consecutive year that educators from China’s two special administration regions (SARs) have visited the Chinese mainland ahead of National Day.
The delegation, consisting of over 200 members, includes officials from the education departments, principals of universities and schools, outstanding teachers, and leaders of educational organizations of Hong Kong and Macao.
During the meeting, Peng emphasized President Xi Jinping’s strong commitment to education in Hong Kong and Macao and his regard for young people and educators in the SARs. He urged educators in Hong Kong and Macao to recognize the country’s achievements, build a sense of national pride, and actively contribute to China’s broader development goals under the “One Country, Two Systems” framework.
The meeting was chaired by Vice Minister of Education Wang Jiayi.
