The Ministry of Education has just released its 2023 Statistical Bulletin on Education Spending as follows:
I. Total national spending on education
In 2023, national spending on education totaled RMB 6.4595 trillion, marking an increase of 5.3% on the previous year, while funds channeled into education using national budget (including public expenditures and government expenditures on education, allocations for education from state-owned and state-holding enterprises, and revenues from businesses owned by educational institutions and public services) reached RMB 5.0433 trillion, a 4.0% increase on 2022.
