Minister of Education Huai Jinpeng led a delegation to Kazakhstan from July 2–4.
In the presence of the presidents of the two countries, Huai Jinpeng and Sayasat Nurbek, Kazakhstan's Minister of Science and Higher Education, jointly unveiled the plaque of the Kazakh branch campus of Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU) and signed two documents, including an agreement on Chinese language teaching and a memorandum of cooperation on Luban Workshop development.
During his trip in Kazakhstan, Huai held in-depth discussions with Nurbek and Gani Beisembayev, Kazakhstan's Minister of Education, respectively. He exchanged views with them on China-Kazakhstan educational cooperation in the next "Golden Three Decades". Huai also visited a number of universities, including the BLCU Kazakh branch, Astana Polytechnic, L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, and Astana IT University. He attended the launch ceremony of the publication Achievements in Cooperation among the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Members in Higher Education. Meanwhile, he participated in the International Symposium on Cooperation in Higher Education and Industry-Education Integration held in parallel with the launch ceremony, and met with the president of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University who also attended the events.
Huai's trip to Kazakhstan aimed to implement the consensus reached by the heads of state of China and Kazakhstan as well as the consensus reached at the SCO Summit and the China-Central Asia Summit, and promote China-Kazakhstan educational cooperation. Both sides agreed to push forward results-based cooperation in higher education, vocational education, digital education, language teaching, as well as the development of bilateral cooperation mechanism.
