In a significant move to improve relations across the Taiwan Strait, the MOE has issued a new policy document aimed at facilitating educational exchange and cooperation between Fujian Province and Taiwan. This is part of a broader directive from the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council to explore new pathways for cross-Strait integration.
The newly released document, entitled “Several Measures to Support Fujian in Building a Demonstration Zone for Integrated Development across the Taiwan Strait”, outlines comprehensive strategies for turning Fujian into a welcoming home for teachers and students from across the Strait.
The document contains 20 major measures, including creating a supportive environment for Taiwanese students pursuing education in Fujian; assisting educators from Taiwan in finding stable and fulfilling employment and residency; strengthening collaboration and exchange programs between educational institutions, including HEIs, across the Strait; promoting the integration of vocational education and industry; and distributing high-quality and balanced educational resources in Fujian.
