A symposium on developing national health schools was recently held in Beijing. The symposium was co-organized by the Department of Sports Health and Art Education under the MOE and the Institute of Child and Adolescent Health, Peking University.

The conference focused on implementing the goals, organizational methods, and quality requirements outlined by the MOE in its Notice on Implementing the National Health School Construction Plan. Discussions centered on developing the Guidelines on National Health Schools and the best ways to accomplish seven tasks, i.e., instilling moral values, strengthening the school’s health governance system, improving students’ health literacy, refining health education, establishing health monitoring and evaluation mechanisms, boosting campus health service capabilities, and creating a conducive environment for students’ healthy growth.

During the symposium, representatives of the first group of participants in the National Health School Construction Plan provided insights into the effectiveness of health promotion efforts and described their experiences. Education officials from Beijing, Guangdong, and Chongqing shared practices and progress in coordinating, supporting, and synergizing national health school construction efforts in their respective regions.
