Minister of Education Huai Jinpeng met with Singaporean Minister of Education Chan Chun Sing on Sept. 13.
Huai said, “China and Singapore are good neighbors and friends. We have carried out a series of pragmatic cooperation initiatives in education.” He called on the two nations to work together to strengthen mutual learning, achieve greater consensus on educational policies, and promote cooperation in research and innovation. Huai specifically mentioned the need to strengthen cooperation in digital education, teacher training, educational capacity building, and youth exchange programs. He said he believed that this cooperation would contribute to a comprehensive, high-quality, and forward-looking partnership between China and Singapore.
Chan expressed his willingness to deepen educational cooperation between China and Singapore on the basis of mutual trust and respect. He said he hoped to promote the exchange of students and scholars between the two countries, especially in the areas of lifelong learning, teacher training, and educational evaluation reform in the digital age. Chan said he believed that deepening educational cooperation between China and Singapore would elevate bilateral educational cooperation to a new level.
