Vice Minister of Education Wang Jiayi met with Markus Venzin, CEO of EHL (Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne, Switzerland), on Sept. 12. Both sides exchanged views on EHL’s plan for opening a campus in Hainan.
Wang noted that Switzerland is a significant partner for China in education and that the two countries have enjoyed fruitful educational cooperation in recent years. He added that, as the world’s pioneering hotel school, EHL has engaged in partnerships with several educational institutions in China in both higher education and vocational education. He thus welcomed EHL’s plan to establish a campus in Hainan, emphasizing its potential to significantly advance related industries in the province.
Venzin thanked the Ministry of Education (MOE) for its support of EHL’s initiative to create a Hainan campus, and affirmed EHL’s strong commitment to actively implement the plan.
Speaking highly of the targeted assistance program, Wang emphasized the Yunnan government’s willingness to expand cooperation with the MOE and its directly affiliated HEIs to advance education progress and modernization in Yunnan.
On Teachers’ Day, which is celebrated September 10, Minister Huai made inspection visits to the Kunming University of Science and Technology, Yunnan University, Qujing No. 2 Elementary School, the Yunnan Vocational Institute of Energy Technology, and LONGi Silicon Materials Company.
