A press conference and international seminar on high-quality education was held in Beijing on July 4 to launch the Chinese version of the Global Education Monitoring Report 2021/2 prepared by UNESCO and the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goal 4: China Progress Report (2015–2021). Wang Jiayi, Deputy Minister of Education, and Stefania Giannini, UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Education, both spoke at the meeting.
Wang emphasized China’s support for UNESCO’s leadership role in global educational reform and urged education researchers and policymakers to promote reform and innovation in education. Giannini thanked China for its contributions to achieving the Sustainable Development Goal 4 for education and lauded China’s exemplary role in promoting common educational interests through information technology.
The Secretariat of the National Commission of China for UNESCO and the China National Academy of Educational Sciences hosted the event, which was sponsored by the Educational Science Publishing House.
