Minister of Education Huai Jinpeng met with Ms. Stefania Gianini, Assistant-Director General for Education at UNESCO, on July 3. The two sides exchanged views on educational cooperation between China and UNESCO.

Huai applauded the major role played by UNESCO in leading global educational reform and spoke highly of the pragmatic collaboration between China and UNESCO on the digitization of education, education for girls and women, and other areas. He said he hoped the two sides would further cooperate to accelerate the achievement of the 2030 Global Goals for Education.

Ms. Gianini expressed appreciation for China’s long-term support of UNESCO, in particular its great efforts in the work by the SDG4-Education 2030 High-Level Steering Committee. She said UNESCO would continue to work with China to implement outcomes from the Transforming Education Summit, promote the digitization of education and establish UNESCO Category I institutes in China, with a view to promoting educational transformation around the world.
