To bolster the vocational teacher workforce and raise the visibility of vocational teachers’ contributions to education, the Ministry of Education (MOE) held a national conference in which a group of 12 excellent vocational teachers shared their best teaching practices. Prior to the conference, the group had already made a lecture tour across 10 provinces between May 22 and June 2.

At the conference, Education Minister Huai Jinpeng highly commended the lecture tour and the experiences and lessons shared by these outstanding teachers. He said the lecture tour was the first of its kind organized by the MOE to showcase the remarkable performance of vocational teachers and highlight the importance of vocational education in producing skilled graduates to take on vital roles in various industries. He added that more such lecture tours would be organized to encourage more excellent teachers to join the vocational education system.

By summarizing President Xi’s important remarks on how to boost vocational education, Huai underlined the need to integrate talent training and regional economic development. He said that stronger policy support would be provided at the national and local levels to improve the public image of vocational education and allow the education sector to play a leading role in social and economic development, thus better contributing to China’s modernization drive.
