Vice Minister of Education Chen Jie met with leaders of City University of Macau (CityU Macau), including Mr. Chan Ming Kam, Chancellor and Council Chairman of the university and a member of the CPPCC National Committee, and Prof. Liu Jun, Rector of the university, on March 14. The two sides had an in-depth exchange of views on cooperation with mainland HEIs, promotion of high-quality university development, and other issues.
Chen acknowledged the continuous efforts of CityU Macau to promote the tradition of patriotism in students, optimize its academic conditions, and improve pedagogy and talent training. He expressed hope that CityU Macau would further enhance collaboration and communication with mainland HEIs, with a focus on talent cultivation and technological innovation, consolidate its specialty disciplines, and contribute more to fulfilling the nation’s strategic goals for education.
Mr. Chan expressed appreciation for MOE’s long-term support for CityU Macau. He pledged to develop the university’s specialty disciplines and continue CityU Macau’s journey toward becoming a world-leading university. He also pledged to promote the Macao SAR’s “One Centre, One Platform, One Base” development plan in coordination with the state-level plan for economic and social development.
