The International Higher Education Forum 2022 was held in Wuhan both online and offline on Nov. 26. Vice Minister of Education Sun Yao, among others, attended the forum and delivered a speech.

The theme of this year’s forum was “a community with a shared future for mankind and sustainable development of higher education.” Sun said that the theme reflected a major area of focus for those working in the higher education sector worldwide today. He added that, to ensure sustainable development of higher education in China, the central task is to cultivate high-caliber personnel capable of carrying out the mission of national rejuvenation. He also said that higher education institutions should organize research on key technological issues concerning national strategic demands and further conduct cooperation with top-level universities and research institutions around the world as well as international organizations such as UNESCO.

Thirty-five representatives from international NGOs, government agencies and universities in other countries delivered speeches at the forum. The event, which was broadcast live on Chinese and English TV channels globally, was watched by nearly 16 million viewers.
