The First China Case Studies Conference was held in Beijing on September 17. Huai Jinpeng, Minister of Education, Gao Peiyong, Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), and Jiang Xiaojuan, Director of the China Case Studies Expert Advisory Committee, attended the meeting and delivered speeches.

Huai said the challenges facing global governance today need to be addressed through realistic reform based on robust research. The Ministry of Education (MOE) will increase its support for case studies and the development of high-quality case collections, especially those demonstrating unique Chinese approaches to global issues facing humanity.

He said he hoped case studies would inject new vitality into higher education worldwide by combining lessons learned from practice with theoretical innovation, and promoting knowledge sharing. He also hoped that case studies could be integrated with case-based teaching.

The conference presented an array of themed cases and the outcomes of case studies. It also included a forum on the development, study, and dissemination of cases as well as case-based teaching. About 400 representatives from over 100 universities in seven countries or territories attended the event either in person or online.
