The Group of Twenty (G20) Education Ministers Meeting took place both online and offline on September 1 with the theme of “Recover, Reimagine, and Rebuild Stronger.” Minister of Education Huai Jinpeng attended the event via video conference and delivered a speech.

Huai said the Chinese government always put top priority on education and in recent years had made considerable achievements in the balanced development of education, educational digitalization, international cooperation, and student employment. He said that against a backdrop of challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic and a new wave of technological and industrial change, the G20 should play a leading role in the recovery, reimagining and rebuilding of global education. In addition, the G20 should make efforts to help achieve the 2030 SDG Agenda. He said China’s Ministry of Education hoped to work with other G20 members to build a better future.

Huai also urged countries to take concrete actions to ensure equal access to education as well as high quality education. He also urged countries to press ahead with the digital transformation of education, strengthen global educational cooperation and synergy, and improve people’s well-rounded development.

The meeting was convened by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia. Attendees included education officials from G20 countries and representatives from several international organizations.
