Vice Minister of Education Tian Xuejun delivered a speech via videoconference at the 2022 Hong Kong Patriotic Education Summit Forum and the launch ceremony for the Patriotic Education Support Centre on July 16.

Tian said, in the past two years a more favorable environment has been built for patriotic education in Hong Kong, and a more systematic plan and a greater variety of pedagogical approaches and practices have been put into place. New changes have also been seen in and out of schools, in textbooks and curricula, and in teachers and students.

Tian pointed out that great effort should be made to implement the guidelines put forward by President Xi Jinping in his speech delivered at the celebration of the 25th anniversary of Hong Kong’s return to China. He said the Ministry of Education would continue to fully support patriotic education in Hong Kong and would help to build an education system that is highly adaptable to the “one country, two systems” principle. Efforts would also be made to further deepen educational exchange between Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland, and better help young people in Hong Kong to seize opportunities to thrive and shine.
