Huai Jinpeng meets President Emeritus of the Juilliard School

On October 29, Minister of Education Huai Jinpeng met with Joseph Polisi, President Emeritus of the Juilliard School and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Tianjin Juilliard School (TJS).

Huai said, Peng Liyuan, the wife of Chinese President Xi Jinping recently sent a letter of congratulations for the inauguration of the TJS, expressing her hope that TJS would help to promote cultural and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries and build a bridge that "crosses national boundaries and connects people”.

The TJS is a joint venture partnership set up by the Tianjin Conservatory of Music and New York's Juilliard School. Huai commended the collaboration between the two sides to prepare emerging talented musicians to thrive as professionals and promote mutual learning in art between the countries. He also encouraged the Juilliard School to further enhance cooperation with Chinese higher educational institutions.

Joseph Polisi expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Education of China for its long-standing support in facilitating cooperation between the Juilliard School and its Chinese counterparts. He said the School would further deepen cooperation with China and expand the School’s reach and scope, so as to promote educational and people-to-people exchanges between China and the U.S.
