On April 19, the MOE held a meeting to make detailed plans for handling suggestions and proposals on education received in the remainder of 2021. Vice minister of education Song Demin attended the meeting and delivered a speech.

Song underlined the importance of handling submissions on education from representatives to the Two Sessions, for building consensus and pooling efforts towards realizing established goals for 2021, the inaugural year of the 14th Five Year Plan and the centenary of the founding of the CPC.

He instructed that the handling of proposals should follow a systemic, coordinated, orderly and time-bound approach, to ensure that all submissions were responded to in a timely manner, special emphasis is accorded to those on educational issues of the greatest public interest, and follow-up action is promptly taken to make sure no advice goes unheeded. He urged close contact with representatives, from the handling of the proposals through to follow-up on them, to ensure suggestions are truly translated into action with educational problems addressed, and gaps filled effectively.

During the Two Sessions of 2021, representatives from the education system submitted 1,457 suggestions and 1,034 proposals on education, marking an increase of 6.03 percent over 2020. The MOE was mandated by the Two Sessions to respond to 1,147 of the submissions.
