From September 17 to 19, Minister of Education Chen Baosheng toured schools at different levels in the Tibet Autonomous Region to assess the region’s progress in education. Topics covered included student dropout rate reduction, and the use of information technology in classrooms. 

In a meeting with local education officials, Chen stressed the need to improve Tibetan people’s access to education and ensure greater equality. Measures included providing more resources to support Tibet’s education sector, promoting higher quality volunteer teaching in local schools, building a sound system of vocational education, and promoting lifelong learning.
