On the afternoon of November 5, the founding meeting for the National Consulting Committee on Teacher Education and other committees was held at the Beijing Normal University. Sun Yao, Vice Minister of Education and a member of the MOE’s Party Leadership Group, attended the meeting and delivered appointment letters to the experts of the National Consulting Committee on Teacher Education and other committees.

To achieve this goal, forward-looking plans for reform policies and initiatives as well as synergies in their implementation were required. Supportive mechanisms and platforms should be created to engrain moral education in teachers, and priority given to promoting high-quality and balanced training for teachers. At the same time, teachers’ legitimate rights and benefits should be secured and their career development improved. Additionally, specific tasks needed to be addressed to facilitate the cultivation of innovative, high-caliber, professional educators and ensure the effectiveness of concerted measures.

The meeting was also participated by members of the National Consulting Committee on Teacher Education and directors and vice directors of the Advisory Committee on HEI and Kindergarten Teachers’ Development (2019-2022), the other four advisory committees on teaching, and the Fourth National Expert Committee on Teacher Education Course Resources.
