On May 9, Vice Minister of Education Tian Xuejun met with Jonathan Slater, Permanent Secretary for the Department for Education of the United Kingdom.

Tian spoke highly of the achievements made through educational exchanges between the two countries, and gave a brief introduction of China’s future plans to modernize and open-up its education sector.

Both sides agreed to further promote bilateral educational cooperation, including more communication and information sharing, exchange programs for scholars and students, efforts to improve the quality of education, research capacity building in higher educational institutes, and innovative cooperative partnerships at higher education level.
