Minister of Education Chen Baosheng recently visited several educational institutions in Jiangsu and Shanghai, including the China University of Mining and Technology, Changzhou Science & Education Town, Tongji University and East China Normal University.
A symposium was held on this occasion to discuss education reforms in the Yangtze River Delta city cluster of the Yangtze River Economic Zone, offering a platform for representatives from local government, higher education institutions and enterprises to exchange views.
During the symposium Chen highlighted the important remarks made by President Xi Jinping and the renewed emphasis that the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China had placed on the strategy for developing Yangtze River Economic Zone. The new strategy imposes higher requirement on the education sector, in particular on higher education. To this end, Chen underscored a number of central issues that should be the subject of research and work in the future, in a view to effectively mobilize high quality educational resources in the Zone and develop an education innovation cluster in this region.
