The Revolutionary Committee of The Chinese Kuomintang (RCCK) submitted a proposal to the Fourth Session of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) on the topic of virtual simulation teaching.

The proposal pointed out that the use of virtual simulation teaching methods had greatly facilitated scientific experiments and teaching during the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemics. Yet the existing virtual simulation teaching projects mainly focus on validation experiments and experience-based experiments. There is a lack of sophisticatedly-designed and highly interactive exploratory experiments which allow for well-conceived formulation of hypothesis and open exploration of diversified pathways and their possible outcomes, and thus these projects failed to effectively inspire innovative thinking in students.

The proposal offers six recommendations: 1) Further improving virtual simulation teaching with a focus on fostering innovative practical skills; 2) Building national-level expert teams to conduct more researches on virtual simulation teaching projects; 3) Using state-of-the-art technologies to enhance the effectiveness of virtual simulation teaching; 4) Building a platform for university-industry-academic partnership and bringing leading AI enterprises into in-depth involvement; 5) Encouraging HEIs to create and put into use virtual simulation teaching projects; 6) Building an open source cloud platforms for virtual simulation teaching.
