Zhang Wanbo, born in February 1973, is a teacher at the Fifth Middle School in the Benxi Manchu Autonomous County, Liaoning Province. 

He has devoted himself to rural education in a relatively poor region for 24 years. After gaining a senior title in 2009, he became the head math teacher of his school and began to teach in grade 9 (also the make-or-break year for completing junior high school) as a class head-teacher. He not only delves into pedagogical strategies, but also loves his students, treating them as his own children and focusing on each of them, thus winning acclaim from students and parents.

He has been a keynote speaker at many forums on ethics and pedagogy, actively sharing effective teaching practices based on rural conditions. He has won the “National Excellent Teacher” and other honorary titles.
