Yang Zhenbin, CPPCC National Committee member and CPC Committee Secretary of Shanghai Jiao Tong University:

The COVID-19 pandemic is significantly impacting employment this year. In response to this difficult situation, the country is closing ranks to overcome the challenge: government measures have been rolled out to spur graduate employment by launching unprecedented recruitment drives among college graduates to join the army, the civil service, postgraduate programs, along with a salvo of rural support programs. Following instructions from the Ministry of Education, 48 higher education institutions joined an initiative to boost the employment of students graduating from universities in the city of Wuhan. China’s economy is rapidly regaining momentum as life returns to normal: employers should now step up to the plate and seize this opportunity to recruit freshly skilled graduates to support future growth.
