He Yingchun, CPPCC National Committee member and vice president of No. 1 High School of Sunan Yugur Autonomous County of Gansu Province:
According to my observations, many county-level schools in ethnic minority regions face similar difficulties and challenges: schools are geographically dispersed across the region; schools and student numbers are small; the age of students covers a wide range; parents have higher expectations for their children’s education. The development of education across the country is not uniform: I hope that the government will further pursue more balanced development of education in both ethnic minority regions and economically developed regions. Schools in county seats should be given more support to help them achieve more marked progress, thereby setting an example for the local education sector, and in turn spurring improvements in the overall quality of education in these regions.
